In the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine, today a solemn ceremony of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine was held to commemorate the returned to the Republic of Austria objects of arts and crafts of nationalities of Crimea and private letters during the German occupation, exported to Austria during the Second World War, as the press office of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Gorin, the Vice Minister of Culture and the Tourism Minister Tim Kochan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine Jozsef Marcus Vuketich, the director of the Austrian Cultural Forum Alexander Beyerle, the deputy chairman of the State Service controlling the movement of cultural values across the state border of Ukraine Pavel Bilash, the chief curator of Bakhchissaray Historical and Cultural Reserve O. Alpashkina.
The cultural values of peoples of the Crimea returned by Austrian side are a collection of textiles of Crimean Tatars and Karaites, including scarves, belts, bags, drapes, garters, which are mostly made of velvet, trimmed with gold threads.
In accordance with the agreements struck up with the Austrian side, the cultural values of peoples of the Crimea will be transferred by specialized agencies of the Ministry of Culture, in accordance with established procedure, for permanent storage to Bakhchisarai Historical and Cultural Reserve, and the acts of the correspondence to the State Archive of Khmelnytsky oblast, the memorial complex "National Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" and the National Museum of History of Ukraine.
The correspondence (about 1200 letters) returned by Austrian side will provide an opportunity to learn the fate of those who addressed the tragic events of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. |
