Ukrainian week ... Russia's Ukraine. Udmurt or Chuvash?

Sunday, 20 December 2009 12:27

If Ukraine does not become a normal nation-state, Ukrainians will share the fate of the powerless Udmurt and Chuvash. Life or death - the state, in the end, must venture and make the middle path between life and death, as every "third way" - is an illusion, a disastrous illusion, which inevitably leads to the death of the state.

The state eventually must dare to have its own individuality and not be a lifeless state apparatus, which spreads among its nominal citizens despondency and despair.

The state must either acquire its own individuality or disappear. Identity - is, above all, language. The challenge to keep the state's identity occurs among many states, even to such highly-developed as France. French society is not multi-ethnic but multiracial, and there are rumors that the white ethnic French is in the country less than half the population.

But statistics on ethnic grounds in the country is prohibited, France sacredly respects republican principles, as they are - freedom, equality, brotherhood.

Taking into account the ethnic diversity of Ukraine with its, as local "internationalists" like to emphasize, more than 130 nationalities (that is more than in Former USSR, where it was told about "130 equil") - it's a long way to France, but nevertheless the nationalities and ethnic groups are not even mention in that country and great efforts are made to preserve the country's identity, language, entity, there are no presidents-muffs and no deputies speking other language who don't care the constitution.

Clean language - is the basis of culture, the French people love and cherish its own language, its dominant position seems unshakable, but the French legislature in 1993 were forced to consolidate the state status of the French language in the Constitution.

According to opinion polls, French language - is the key element of national identity (80% affirmative responses),  Republican values (64% affirmative responses) take the second place, and after these two go such trifles as the national anthem or coat of arms.

All French citizens have one language, one nationality - French, even the Germans of Alsace and Lorraine. (But his German dialect, they also do not forget!)

Ukraine has a fairly large Russian community, formed here as a result of the colonial policies of tsarist and Soviet Russia, moreover, because after the revolution in Ukraine about a million Russians lived, and now they they are 8 times more, although the number of Ukrainians during this time changed very little.

Much of the current Russians - are the descendants of forced migrants that colonized the Moscow Province (in particular the Crimea after the war), and Army retirees, who are formed now in detachments of the Ukrainian Cossacks,"- in Denikin's uniforms!

In fact, most Russians are loyal to the Ukrainian state, and public policy in the sphere of culture were smart enough, no one would have to mention of bilingualism, or of any special status of Russian language.

But the state is not simply removed from its duties in the linguistic-cultural sphere, but it makes exactly the opposite than expected: reduces the Ukrainians to the status of the remainder of a national minority, driving the Ukrainian culture to the ghetto, in every way gives a favor to nationalists localization, does not resist to the massive cultural intervention by Russia. Such a state is preparing itself to die.

There is no need for hypocritical statements from the rostrum about the love for Ukraine (as this looks like a deceptive love in the former "love of the Party to the people!"

Is it happening because the country is ruled by "the whole of the Komsomol's Men" conformists and careerists, who are still celebrating their anniversaries of communists jugend?), but the real large-scale actions.

Without them, the preservation of Ukraine as a state is impossible. Or Russians living in Ukraine, are becoming sincere Ukrainian citizens, understanding that language and national identity unite the country, or Ukraine flies into the abyss and this abyss - is Russian Federation, where Ukrainians will share the fate of the powerless Udmurt and Chuvash.

Where are you, Ukrainian state? How long will you be a disgrace to every decent person who wants to be your sincere citizen?

How long will you be unable to have your own entity and provide decent living conditions, how long will you be a parasite, which does not serve the people but the state apparatus, not raising a civic virtue, and shaping and strengthens the infamous caste of bureaucrats - thieves and fatherlessness, who destroy all human, and fill our hearts with despondency?
