Pervomaiskyi (Ukrainian: Первомайський) is a city in Kharkiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. Population is 32,523 (2001)and 41,352 (Current figures by the city administration).The city is known for its popular "Khimprom" which was one of the biggest chemical factories in the former USSR.The city is situated about 100 KM south east from the district center and on the main rail road "Pivdenna Zaliznitsa".Pervomaiski is 4th largest city in the district of Kharkov as some facts confirm that also.The city has lush green plots and parks,a cultural center named "DK Khimik" and a stadium also named "Khimik".
In 1869 a railway was opened Курск-Харьков-Sevastopol. In August of the same year a whistle stop was built in 80-ти kilometres ot Kharkov. Here trains began to be stopped for addition to the supply of water, firewoods. This whistle stop was named by Likhachevo, in honour a squire Likhachova, an estate of which was near a village Sivash in a few kilometres ot a railway. Water was given from a lake Sivash to on to specially built водоводу, for providing of normal pressure of water, built a water-tower (she was built on a tom place, where other costs now, modern). After completion of civil war a question became about multiplying workplaces for peasants to which work was not enough in villages. By the special decision (joint) of Alekseevskogo, Bereksogo, In.-Бишкинского village Soviets a decision about migration of part of peasants was accepted from these sat down on the farm of Likhachevo. So in 1924 there was a settlement of Likhachevo, which originally belonged to В.- Bishkinskomu village Soviet. In a settlement were already a long ago built (yet by a squire Likhachevym) mill with a gazogene engine, storages, settlement. The founders of settlement were migrants from villages: Alekseevka, Bereka, Maslovka, In.-Бишкин. They were settled streets, for example bishkintsy was settled in the street of May, 1. To the organs of folk education a mechanical factory which agricultural and handicraft schools were formed on the base of was passed. In 1927 13 courts and 56 habitants were counted in a settlement. There were already 85 courts in 1928. A population was multiplied due to workers, arriving to work on brick and mechanical factories, and similarly on a mill. In September, 1929 on initiative of activists of К.Толокнеева, К.Федосеенко and other an artel was organized in a settlement. On proposal of members of artel she got naming «On May, 1» after an international proletarian holiday. At the beginning of December, 1929 Likhachevskaya is organized the mashinno-traktornaya station (one of first MTS in the Kharkov district). Likhachevskaya of MTS at first served 30 collective farms of Alekseevskogo of district. By the winter of 1929—1930 г.г. on courses MTS was prepared 200 traktoristtov, accountants and other specialities.
Pervomaiskyi is situated on main railway line (Pivdina Zalisnitsa), connecting north with south, The railway station at Pervomaiskyi is called Lehacheovoe or in Russian Lekhachova. Moreover Pervomaiskyi lies on the main road hub called Sevostopolskaya Trassa (The Sevestopol Main Track)linking many other cities like Lozovaya, Merefa, Balakleya and Izum together with the Kharkiv Oblast.
Pervomaiskyi originally had just 2 schools till 1977. Now It has 7 secondary schools among those is only 1 Russian Medium the rest are Ukrainian Medium. Pervomaiskiy has 14 Baby Day-Care Centres (Detski Sad) which are all Ukrainian Medium. There is one college offering Technical Education after 9th Class in many fields like Cooking, Tractor Building, Driving, Heavy Wheel Drving, Field Fertalizing and so on.
