The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has asked the Russian colleagues to allocate the berth for submarine "Zaporozhye" - the only one in the Navy of the country - in Sevastopol. This was announced by the Defense Minister Pavel Lebedev at a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Crimea, wrote zn.ua.
"We have a lot of unresolved issues. One of them concerns the berth allocation for Ukrainian submarine "Zaporozhye" which will come soon from the factory," - said Lebedev.

Ukraine has signed a major contract for the development of shale gas with Royal Dutch Shell. It is reported that the cost of the contract is $ 10 billion.
The contract was signed by the CEO of the energy giant Shell Peter Voser and Ukrainian Energy Minister Eduard Stavitskiy in the sidelines of the economic forum in Davos, Switzerland.
"We have witnessed a great event today. I believe that we have become almost a family", - said the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych who attended the ceremony.
Kiev hopes that the deal will help it to avoid dependence on expensive Russian natural gas. Ukrainian shale gas reserves are estimated as one of the largest in Europe.

Yesterday, the President Viktor Yanukovych signed a law "On the uniform state demographic registry and proof of citizenship of Ukraine, identity or special status", better known as the Law on biometric passports. "The president has opened a real way to Europe. At this point, we can say that we have met all international treaties on the matter. We believe that in the end we will known some day as people who have done such a good job and moved Ukraine to the EU" - said the author of the law, people's deputy Vasyl Hrytsak (Party of Regions).
Recall, that a document about the switch of 15 types of documents to biometric ones, including Ukrainian and international passports, was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on October 2. The Parliament's decision led to protests of human rights defenders, religious organizations, the Ministry of Justice and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, and then Viktor Yanukovych vetoed the law.

The Party of Regions, according to official results by the Central Election Commission, has 185 seats in a 450-seat parliament of Ukraine. These data were published on November 11 in the evening after meeting of members of the CEC.
Recall that the election of people's deputies of Ukraine was held on 28 October 2012, the decision in parliament is supported by 226 deputies.
According to the data, published on the website of the Central Electoral Commission, 445 deputies were elected, of whom, the Party of Regions - 185 People's Deputies, the United Opposition "Motherland" - 101, Party Udar - 40, All-Ukrainian Union "Freedom" - 37, the Communist Party - 32, the party "United Center" - 3, the People's Party - two deputies.
The CEC found it impossible to give the results of elections in five single-member districts, and therefore the Verkhovna Rada recommended to appoint new elections in those districts.

An activist of Ukrainian movement FEMEN, known for its scandalous actions, tried to break through to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill at Kiev airport.
A half-naked girl rushed to the representative of ROC with the cry: "Go away", but she was quickly taken away by securities.
"It is regrettable that the visit of Patriarch Kirill to Ukraine is overshadowed by such antics" - said the head of the Patriarchal press service, the deacon, Alexander Volkov, commenting on the incident, reports RIA "Novosti".
He noted that the church often faced with attacks and anger.
"This shows that too many people understand that the visit of Patriarch Kirill to Ukraine is an event of great magnitude and of significant importance. At the same time, this kind of incident does not impose a shadow over his visit, it just shows profound spiritual crisis in certain sectors of society", - said Volkov.

KIEV, July 12. State Tax Service of Ukraine offers to reduce VAT for domestic producers in Ukraine up to 7%, says "Kommersant-Ukraine". At the same time all the exceptions on income tax (UAH 2.1 billion) and VAT (UAH 5.6 billion), which are not collected from medicines, services, education, media, grains, will be canceled.
Today, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine will hold a discussion on a draft of radical tax reform, prepared by tax authorities. In accordance with the project, instead of 20% VAT, 12% will be levied on import of all kinds of services and industries that belong to natural monopolies, and up to 7% - on internal operations.

A Non-Governmental Organization "Freedom of Choice" which protects the rights of Ukrainian consumers, addressed the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych with a request to protect the constitutional rights of smokers and to veto the law of Ukraine on the complete prohibition of any information on any tobacco products, which was submitted to the Head of State for signing.
According to the chairman of the organization Yevgeny Korneev, information on tobacco products in its legal essence is not an advertisement, in fact all types of tobacco advertising have been banned in Ukraine for more than one year.
"Information on tobacco products is a requirement of the law of Ukraine "On Protection of Consumer Rights" and other laws of Ukraine.

KIEV, April 20 - RIA Novosti. Ukraine's GDP in the first quarter of 2011 grew by more than 5%, said the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"According to statistics, gross domestic product for the first quarter of 2011 grew by more than 5%", - Azarov said.
In 2010, Ukraine's GDP grew by 4.2% after the recession in 2009 by 15,1%, against the backdrop of global crisis. GDP's growth for 2011 is laid at the level of 4,5% in the State Budget of Ukraine.
