Kamenec-podolsky - is one of the oldest historical cities of Ukraine, the main town of Podolsk land - belongs to the outstanding events of European culture.
The peculiar geopolitical situation, location near the border of routes and waterways, the most important of which was the Dniester and the location of the city on an inaccessible rocky island has identified its main function - border fortress. During its long history Kamenets not once passed from hand to hand to various conquerors. Once the Mongols owned it, as well as later the Polish-Lithuanian gentry, Turks, Austro-Hungary, Russia, the imperialists and the Bolsheviks, the German invaders.
Accordingly, each historical period has left its mark on the topography and architecture of the old city. In Kamenec-Podolsky there are over 200 important historical and architectural attractions. A special place among the architectural monuments Kamenetz takes the old citadel, a fortress with a system of other architectural structures. An integral part of the ensemble of the fortress is the stone bridge, which seemed to continue walls on the eastern side and connects the old town with the fortress.
In 1998, the old town was declared a National Historical and Architectural Reserve "Kamenec"
