The territory of present Mirgorod was a part of Kievan Rus. Grand Prince Vladimir began the construction of protective items, consolidating the eastern borders of the state in the XI century. Warring parties in this period met in such places to solve trade problems by peaceful means. So they called this locality Mir-gorod (Peace-city).
The history of the resort Myrgorod began in 1912 as a resort created in the place of mineral source, opened by local doctor V.I. Zubkovsky(1843-1933). First only one hospital was equipped, built in 1916-1919, it consisted of spas, dining club and mud baths. People were treated here, mostly those with rheumatism and gout. In 1927 the second hole was drilled, in 1937 - the third. In thirties new sleeping pavilions were built.
In 1937 more than 11,000 patients received treatment in the resort. In 1939, sulfurated baths operated in the resort, inhalatorium, mud baths, therapeutic massage office, X-ray office, the clinical laboratory. During the Great Patriotic War, the resort has been virtually destroyed.
There was a hospital for soldiers of the Wehrmacht in one of the buildings of the hospital. With the advent of the Soviet army a hospital-sanatorium for 300 places was located here. Since 1947, the resort begins to specialize in the treatment of diseases of the nervous system, and from 1953 - disease of gastro-intestinal tract.
In 1960 the fourth hole of mineral water was put into operation. During the 60's has increased the number of medical and dormitory buildings, specialized classrooms, laboratories. In 1970-73 open-air cinema, the Palace of Culture, therapeutic beach, dormitory sanatorium "Birch Grove" were constructed here. In 1976 - there was a completion of a sanatorium complex "Mirgorod" with 500 seats and the first Ukrainian specialized unit for treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus began to operate. 1983 saw the introduction of the sanatorium complex "Poltava" into service.
Since 1991, the resort includes sanatoriums "Horol", "Birch Grove", "Poltava", "Mirgorod". 3500 people can also relax and take care of . The resort has: a clinic, sauna-mud curative complex, studies of functional diagnostics, clinical, bacteriological and immunological laboratory, computer center, classrooms physiotherapy, exercise therapy and massage rooms.
