Sokal (Ukrainian: Сокаль, translit. Sokal’, Polish: Sokal) is a town located on the banks of the Buh River in the Lviv Oblast of western Ukraine. Serving as the administrative center of the Sokal Raion (district), the city itself is also designated as a separate raion within the oblast.
Sokal was in Poland 1918-1944 and its Western part (village Zhvirka) was in Poland 1944-1951.
The current estimated population is around 21,700 (as of 2001).
