Thousands of fans of the talent of an outstanding Ukrainian film and theater actor Bohdan Stupka came to say goodbye to him to the National Academic Drama Theater named after Ivan Franco on Tuesday morning.
According to the agency "Interfax-Ukraine", thousands of people lined up at the square in front of the theater. The entrance of the theater was open, on the doors - a portrait of the actor.
The place in front of the building was completely filled with flowers, which the fans of the actor had brought on the eve. All who came to say goodbye to Stupka were holding bouquets of flowers. There were also lot of people with flowers for the funeral in the subway.
People of all ages came to say goodbye to an outstanding actor, there were a lot of actors, young people, as well as people from other cities who asked how to get to the theater. The entrance from the Gorodetsky Street was closed to traffic. There were police patrols around the place.
The day before, Stupka's funeral ceremony was held in the Greek Catholic Church of St. Nicholas at Askold's grave in Kiev.
The actor died on July 22 in the morning on the 71st year of his life after a long illness in the metropolitan hospital "Feofania" where he spent the last four months of his life.
Bohdan Stupka - an outstanding Ukrainian theater and film actor, People's Artist of the USSR (1991), USSR State Prize laureate (1980), Hero of Ukraine (2011). Winner of the National Prize of Ukraine after Shevchenko, State Prize winner, and the winner of the International Theater Prize named after Stanislavsky, Academician of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine. He was born in 1941 in the village Kulikov (now - the Lviv region).
In 1961-1978, he was an actor of the Lviv National Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Mariya Zankovetska. Since 1967, a Member of the Union of Theater Workers of Ukraine. He played over 50 roles on stage. Since 1970, he appeared in films, starred in more than one hundred films. He worked with directors Otar Iosseliani, Krzysztof Zanussi, Jerzy Hoffman, Yury Ilyenko, Kira Muratova, Sergei Bondarchuk, Vladimir Bortko, etc. In 1976, Stupka was awarded the title of Honored Artist, and in 1980 - People's Artist of USSR.
In 1999, he headed the Ministry of Culture and the Arts and held this position until 2001. From 2001 until his last days, he was the artistic director of the National Academic Drama Theater named after Ivan Franko (Kiev). From 2006 to 2010, he was an artistic director of Actors Department of the Kiev National University of Theater, Film and Television named after I.Karpenko-Kary. In 2009, he became the president of the Kiev International Film Festival.
In 2011-2012 - Stupka starred in four Russian serials, which are currently in production.
He left a wife Larisa, son Ostap (an actor of the theater named after Franko), grandchildren Dimitriy (Actor), Bogdan and granddaughter Ustina. |
