Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, his wife Kateryna Yushchenko and their children visited the Festival of Arts of Ukraine, which today reports with a concert of artists of Kiev region. During this year each region of Ukraine will present a distinct cultural tradition at the National Palace of Arts "Ukraine".
"When we talk about the art of Kiev, it is a valuable contribution in the creation of our native land. Each page of this evening will be dedicated to our nation, our folk art and our own Ukrainian soul", - said Victor Yushchenko.
The President presented state awards to the best cultural workers of the Kiev region. Before the concert, presidential family acquainted with the exhibition of works of folk art and paintings of Kiev`s artists.
Festival of arts of Ukraine established in 2008 with the relevant decree of the President to promote the academic, traditional folk and contemporary art, professional and amateur creativity, as well as the promotion of ethnic and cultural traditions of the regions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is concerned about the situation with the seizure by pirates of a Ukrainian ship crew Ariana.
Said the press secretary of President Irina Vannikova on interview for mass-media.
According to her, the head of state instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in cooperation with the leading nations of the world and international organizations to take all necessary steps for release from captivity citizens of Ukraine and to consolidate the efforts of the international community to combat piracy.
Vannikova noted that the situation is under control of the Ukrainian Embassy in Greece, Britain, Italy and Kenya. The exact number of citizens of Ukraine and members of the crew is refining now, added the press secretary of President.
As reported, on Tuesday a representative of company Alloceans Shipping Co. LTD (Greece) managed to establish communications with the captain of the ship Ariana - all members of the crew feel fine.
On the night of May 2, not far from the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean, pirates seized the ship Ariana, which was under the flag of Malta, the crew consists of 24 citizens of Ukraine.

Association of Ukrainians in Russia sent a letter to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, which asked for an explanation of the reasons for the closure of Ukrainian Educational Center in Moscow.
As stated in a letter to Medvedev, Ukrainian Educational Center in Moscow, worked for more than 10 years in accordance with the license issued by the school number 124, while staff have been issued under the Labor Law.
Heads of Association said that the equipped rooms have been invested with substantial funds (approximately $ 25000) and on April 17, 2008 the premises of Ukrainian Educational Center has been sealed under the pretext of lack of permits for existence of Ukrainian Educational Center.
The letter noted that Association of Ukrainians of Russia (AUR), a regional organization of Ukrainians in Moscow, appealed to the Central District Office of Education in Moscow (number 01s/27 of 21.04.2008, № 37/08 of 30.06.2008, № 41/08 of 07.07.2008, № 49/08 of 10.11.2008) and to the Director of the school № 124 O. Ovseychik (06.06.2008) with the letters, which were applied to the work of educational Center. |

Deputy Secretary of the United States of America James Staynberg arrived on Sunday, April 26, in Ukraine on an official visit.
On Monday, April 27, U.S. officials planned to meet with top leaders of Ukraine, in particular, with President Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn and the Party of Regions.
In an interview to UNIAN news agency, he said that the purpose of his visit is to emphasize the intention of the President (United States), Barack Obama, support and develop the level of cooperation that we have. "
Deputy secretary of the United States reported that he would like to talk with the Ukrainian authorities about "the challenges, problems, which they believe are now in front of them and how, in their view, could be Ukraine, and United States work together to respond to these challenges not only in Ukraine but in the region and the whole world.
